Trim retarders (TR) used in LCOS RPTV engines must maintain their retardance characteristics over the service lifetime. A light‐flux test platform was developed for predicting TR lifetime using accelerated life testing methodology. The JDSU BCE™ (“Birefringent Contrast Enhancer”) TR is demonstrated to meet target lifetime expectancy for consumer RPTV systems.
