The opto‐mechanical properties of thin crystal film (TCF) polarizers coated on flexible polymer substrates are investigated. The photopic transmission through the polarizer is measured as a function of strain applied across the polarizer sample for different incident polarizations. An analysis of TCF polarizers subjected to strains parallel and perpendicular to the coating direction is also presented in the context of flexible display applications. A simple description is presented.
