In order to realize the single‐scan addressing instead of a dual scan for an XGA display, it is necessary to reduce the amount of time necessary to address a single line. To achieve for an XGA display a single‐line address period of only 1.3 μs is needed. To obtain this short address period, an asymmetric sustain electrode structure is suggested. By the suggested electrode structure, the single‐line address period of 1.3 μs is obtained while maintaining reliable addressing. Moreover,
