An effective method to alleviate the dynamic false contour in plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed in this paper. Given the local optimal subfield LUTs optimized for each gray level, the proposed algorithm searches the most suitable LUT that minimizes the dynamic false contour in the smooth gray regions centered at the extracted peaks using the histogram. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is able to reduce the dynamic false contour very effectively.
