A new evaluation method of viewing‐angle characteristics for liquid‐crystal displays (LCDs) with image color difference has been studied. To check the validity of this method, we developed high‐precision image display system (HIDS) with feedback mechanism. Optimized mean color difference in CIELAB color space has better correlation (R 2 = 0.84) with visual assessment than conventional iso‐contrast (R 2 = 0.56), using 23 kinds of portrait images which are dependent on TN‐LCD viewing angle.
