A new category of slim rear‐projection televisions has been developed using only flat mirrors and an all refractive projection lens. Utilizing innovations such as a 153 degree wide‐angle lens and a TIR fresnel screen, a 61″ television has been mass produced with only a 6.5″ depth. This paper presents the development and performance of this slim projection system.
