A new compensation system is introduced for a CRT with a tension mask. Mechanical compensation system has strong advantage over bi‐metal type (thermal) compensation system in beam landing shift under the extreme ambient temperature condition. With the new system, we could achieve less than 0.8 μm/ °C of the initial landing shift after keeping the tube under −10 °C for 1 hour. More importantly, we could cut down the mask‐frame system cost by 20% from the cost of our current TTP (Tension Transfer Plate) compensation system.
