— The influence of colloidal chemical properties on the stability of phosphor suspensions and the conditions of formation of luminescent screens were studied. The stability of the phosphor dispersion against aggregation strongly influences the particle packing density and the thickness of the coating. The aggregation of phosphor powder particles in the dispersion causes mass‐density variation in the phosphor coatings and degrades the luminescent characteristics of the screens. Dispersion conditions that provide a high packing density of phosphor particles and increase the quality of the cathodoluminescent coatings were found.
