— FED technology has been expanded to implement the concept of a transparent cathode, and displays have been fabricated and tested. We describe both the transparent cathode and the anode. We explain how we avoid optical parasitic effects and we present the optical characteristics of both monochrome and full‐color displays. As a conclusion, we highlight the major interest of this solution in the context of low‐voltage FEDs.
