— A model is presented for the dissipation of CRT deflection coils allowing for better designs with lower dissipation. With experimental results it is shown that at high scan frequencies the skin effect in Litz wires can no longer be neglected compared to proximity losses. The reduction of the dissipation by increasing the number of separate conductors in a Litz wire is limited to the point where the losses due to the proximity effect become comparable to those due to the skin effect.
