— A front projector and rear‐projection TV's for home entertainment have been brought to market at affordable prices by virtue of a mosaic color‐filterless single‐LCD projection system with tilted dichroic mirrors and microlens array. In this paper, the optical throughput of LC projectors is discussed with respect to spectral domain and “geometrical extend,” which is the product of display area and acceptance angle of the optical system including LCD(s).
