— The development of LCDs for office automation and TV has focused on larger sizes and color. Color filters, which are used to make colored LCDs, must have high color purity and contrast. To achieve these goals, water‐soluble photosensitive compositions of special polypeptides obtained by the hydrolysis of cattle gelatin have been developed. The photosensitive composition has good resolution and stability. With strict control, the hydrolyzate can be produced with good yield, and its molecular weight can be narrowly distributed as desired. This newly developed dyed color filter, featured by the hydrolyzate, is optimized for commercial production of large color LCDs.
