— The effects of luminance quantization and pixel geometry on the image quality of color matrix displays are described with the aid of the recently developed square‐root integral (SQRI) metric for image quality. The quantization effect is taken into account by considering it as a form of noise. Image‐quality measurements of various authors are analyzed and compared with calculations based on this model. The measurements appear to agree very well with the calculations.
