— A new dynamic astigmatism and focus (DAF) gun has been developed for high‐resolution color CRTs, resulting in a rounder spot than that produced by existing DAF guns. A quadrupole lens adjacent to the triode of a conventional DAF was added. This lens is driven by the same dynamic waveform as employed in conventional DAFs. The new gun solves the problem of elliptically distorted spot shapes characteristic of conventional DAF guns with a self‐converging deflection yoke.
