Miniature displays are growing rapidly for applications in head‐mounted displays, electronic viewfinders, and projection displays. In this paper, we successfully pushed color filter‐technology down to a 5 micron pixel size in LCD miniature displays. A PMMA barrier layer encapsulates the color filter to achieve chemical and heat stability during processing steps.
