Our linearly photopolymerized LPP photo‐alignment technology enables to optically align liquid crystals, thus avoiding mechanical brushing. We show that hybrid photoaligned LPP/LCP liquid crystal polymer‐ layers as thin as 12nm exhibit excellent alignment properties for ferroelectric LCD's, Deformed helix ferroelectric LCD's aligned by our technique exhibit contrast ratios >200:1, response times < 200μs and display full gray scale without ghost images.
