A new plasma display technology called ALIS “Alternate Lighting of Surfaces” method which improves the resolution and brightness at the same time has been developed. By using this technology, more than 1000 numbers of scanning lines corresponding to the HDTV broadcasting can be achieved with a number of electrodes which is almost equal to present panel of 480 scanning lines, and also the brightness goes up about 1.5 times. 42 inch prototype panel with the resolution of 1024 1024 realized the brightness of 500cd/m 2 and power consumption of 250W.
