Although CRT technology is considered as mature, there is still remarkable progress being made. Looking into recent trends, a lot of new technologies have been announced and introduced into commercial products such as Matsushita PF tube, Toshiba Micro Filter, NEC Chroma Clear, etc. This paper reviews recent technologies from each CRT element point of view. Future trends are discussed, which are necessary to make it possible for CRTs to survive in sandwiched competition between PDP.
