Several new dichroic azo dyes containing 2,2′‐bis(trifluoromethyl)biphenyl skeleton have been synthesized for liquid‐crystal displays taking advantage of guest‐host effects. The order parameters of these dyes have been determined in nematic liquid crystalline hosts. Tetrakisazo‐dyes‐exhibit high order parameters in liquid crystal. Especially, these dyes show S=0.85 in host LC with high order molecular alignment.
