Novel optical compensation film with hybrid aligned nematic structure was developed for the improvement of the viewing‐angle characteristics of TN‐LCDs. Influence of the film and the TN‐cell parameters on the viewing‐angle characteristics will be discussed. As a result of optimization, the compensated NW‐TN‐LCD shows wide‐viewing‐angle performance on practical use.
