A novel high performance thin film polarizing beam‐splitter (PBS) has been invented and demonstrated. This PBS is non‐absorbing and has a broadband, wide angular field and high extinction ratios for both reflected and transmitted beams. Significant brightness enhancement is observed in two prototype high efficiency LCD projection displays based on this PBS.
