Red and Blue Thin Film Electroluminescence in Eu‐doped orthophosphates

SrLiPO 4 , SrZn 2 (PO 4 ) 2 and SrMg 2 (PO 4 ) 2 powders doped with Eu have been synthesized and bright blue Eu 2+ photoluminescence (PL) has been observed. Blue electroluminescence (EL), which peaks at 445 nm (CIE coordinates x=0.26, y=0.19) has also been observed in SrLiPO 4 :Eu 2+ , which is believed to be a promising new blue EL phosphor.
