An alternate new addressing scheme for AC PDP involves “W” scanning and multiple erase‐scanning per sustain cycle in conjunction with other techniques invented to enhance the picture quality. TMs provides fast addressing which will enable panels with HDTV vertical resolution to be addressed with 8 or more bits of grayscale. This scheme was implemented as color AC PDP of 640×480 resolution.
