160 × 120 monochrome double‐substrate AC‐PDP was successfully operated with 64 gray scale irregular addressing to result in the 3‐fold luminance improvement over the conventional sequential addressing. The details of design and implementation of PDP driving system is described with the experimental results. It is shown that the irregular addressing scheme can be implemented using the existing PDP driver ICs with the minimal overhead in logic design complexity.
