Abstract A commercial, machine‐vision based optical inspection system has been modified to inspect for defects in indiumtin oxide (ITO) coatings on thin, large aperture sheets of glass for use in flat panel displays. The system utilizes several lighting arrangements to detect specific types of coating defects.
