A projection display has been developed based on reflective, liquid crystal light valves fabricated on a crystalline silicon active matrix array. The light valves utilize the 45 degree twisted nematic LC mode. The optical system is based on dichroic mirror color separation, three polarizing beam splitters and a dichroic color combining cube. The display has native SXGA or UXGA resolution with full multisync capability for other formats and provides 600 ANSI lumens with 100:1 ANSI contrast.
