A new concept of AM‐LCD (Active Matrix‐Liquid Crystal Display) projectors, which utilizes two polarization components p and s from a light source, has been developed. Two prototypes of AM‐LCD projectors that simultaneously demonstrated both of high‐resolution (SXGA) and high‐brightness (1500 and 2500 ANSI lm) for large‐screen systems, based on the new concept, are described.
