We have developed a 15‐inch TFT driven anti‐ferroelectric LCD with XGA resolution for monitor applications; this LCD is the largest of its type and has the highest resolution reported so far. Even in the case of XGA resolution, higher contrast ratio than 100:1 has been achieved by applying novel quasi‐DC driving scheme. Fast response time of less than 50mS in the worse case of gray level that is less than half that of TN‐LCD and wide viewing angle of ±70 horizontally and vertically have also been obtained.
