Abstract We suggest new types of barrier rib structure of color PDP—fish bone (FB type), semi box (SB type), embossing (EB type)—to achieve high luminous efficiency. The luminous efficiency has been increased, 15%∼18%, by adapting advanced barrier rib structure without any additional production process and mask. These structures provide wider phosphor area than stripe type structure does and higher exhausting speed compared with that of box type structure. The operating voltage of FB, SB, EB is almost the same with that of conventional barrier rib type.
