The design of the deflection yoke of the Philips Cybertube is presented. Two dynamically driven magnetic quadrupoles have been added to vary the virtual gun pitch seen at the screen synchronously with the frame deflection. This gun pitch modulation enables additional mask curvature for improved doming, drop‐test and microphony performance.
