Polyimide alignment materials for various LCDs have been developed, and these materials have been widely using for recent LCD mass productions. Depending on the type of LCD, such as STN, TN‐TFT and other new LCDs, optimal structure and formulation of the polyimide is required. New compound as a polyimide monomer and its hybrid technology for the high performance alignment materials will be discussed.
