The excellent image quality of HDTV demands display diagonals larger than 50 in. to satisfy human visual‐acuity limits in typical US home‐theater applications. PDPs will meet the HDTV market requirements by means of image‐quality issues, device characteristics and signal‐processing techniques reviewed here.
