A pseudo‐photopic feedback back light control system has been developed for automotive AMLCD's which utilizes two low cost surface mount photodiodes. By utilizing a subtraction process, a pseudo‐photopic feedback signal is produced which can be used to control the back light inverter to the desired brightness level.
