Abstract The new high aperture structure for IPS mode has been realized by covering the data bus line with common electrode. We succeeded in increasing the aperture ratio of 15‐inch XGA TFT‐LCD as high as 1.4 times. In addition, by applying FFD technology to IPS mode, we realized short response time of less than 16msec.
