With the de‐facto standard “VGA” connector nearing the end of its useful life, no obvious candidate for its replacement has appeared. The recent digital interface standards have failed to gain widespread acceptance, due to their increased cost and lack of compatibility with the VGA installed base. This paper will describe a proposed new standard interface which effectively duplicates the performance of the current digital standards while retaining full backward compatibility with the VGA system.
