We have revealed that the carbon nanotube(CNT) nanoscale material should be applicable as the field emitter for display devices. In IDRC'01, we developed an improved structure in order to realize an uniform luminance all over the large display area. The results revealed that the new structure performed the luminous uniformity with high‐luminance. And the structure was applied for a larger size panel. Experimentally, we performed up to a 40‐inch size CNT‐FED panel in SID'02. In this study, we investigated the various factors of CNT‐FED in order to improve luminous uniformity, low driving voltage and high luminance for actual displays. The improved CNT‐FED panel will display characters and graphics by high luminance color pixels.
