Image quality is an important factor in selecting CRTs, PDPs or LCDs. Contrast ratio or peak luminance, gray scale expression, noise visibility, and moving image quality should be improved in current PDPs and LCDs. Desirable performance and the progress in image quality of PDP and LCD television displays are discussed.
