In this study, the effects of chemical compositions and inert fillers, such as quartz and Al 2 O 3 , on the sintering behavior and physical properties of barrier ribs of plasma display panels were investigated. The sintering of glass frit of compositions of 70PbO‐25SiO 2 ‐5B 2 O 3 was found to be affected significantly by the type of fillers used and their contents. The addition of fused quartz as a filler was found to reduce the sintering temperature as well as to improve the fracture resistance of the barrier ribs.
