The shadow mask is one of the most important components in CRT, which plays a role in making electronic beam land on exact position of panel. But the mask is so thin that it is apt to be deformed plastically by a small impact load in the drop test. So, we proposed a new shadow mask assembly different from the present one. The main difference between the new system and the present one is that the former has two frames and four additional isolators. An isolator is composed of two strip springs and a damper. It absorbs the impact load. As a result, the impact load to shadow mask decreases and the new system becomes more stable in drop test. We predicted the improvement by nonlinear transient analysis and confirmed it by the drop test of the prototype.
