A new concept for analysis of operational characteristic of ac‐PDP is proposed in this paper. The physical state of ac‐PDP cell is defined in terms of wall voltages, which can be traced through the various stages of PDP driving sequence. The voltage domain analysis in combination with firing voltage measurement identifies the cell state and allows the estimation of wall voltage difference between two different cell states. Firing voltage measurement also presented invaluable information on the gas discharge characteristics of ac‐PDP.
