In this study, a reflection layer on rear plate of plasma display panel (PDP) was formed via osmotic coating process in an attempt to improve luminance efficiency of PDP. The processing parameters of the osmotic coating process which include coating solvent, swelling characteristics, and coating time were optimized to obtain uniform reflection layer on inside walls of discharge cell. The effect of TiO 2 reflection layer thickness on luminance of the panel was investigated. Comparison with the panel without the layer showed that luminance and its efficacy could be improved by 50%.
