A novel driving scheme applying high‐frequency oscillating waveform to the data electrodes of the conventional PDP is proposed in this paper. More VUV is generated by the high‐frequency waveform so that the luminance and luminous efficiency could be improved. Under experiments on an 8.5‐inch panel, the luminance is improved and the luminous efficiency is enhanced more than 40%.
