We report relatively low‐temperature synthesis of ZnS: Cu, Al AC powder electroluminescent phosphor having smaller particle size comparing to commercial samples. Controlling synthesis conditions we were able to regulate phosphor's EL spectra and color coordinates and fabricate sample with frequency‐controlled electroluminescence color. EL brightness of phosphors was significantly improved by electron beam irradiation in air atmosphere. Surface properties of powders were also studied and found to correlate with synthesis conditions and electroluminescence intensity, providing useful tool in phosphor optimization and quality control.
