Abstract System design considerations for a bi‐sinusoidally scanned retinal scanning display (RSD) system are investigated. Results show that fundamental limitations on the temporal and spatial sampling frequency are imposed by limitations on the maximum achievable horizontal scan frequency. Spatial and temporal image artifacts are studied using simulations and an experiment prototype.
