New concept of tension preservation and temperature compensating system is developed for a tension type CRT. Tension transfer plate (TTP) is used to store the tension energy of the mask during the heat‐process and the plate returns the stored energy back to the shadow mask to minimize the energy loss during the heat process. The plate also plays an important role in controlling temperature compensation of the mask in the normal operation condition, leaving possibilities for uni‐metal spring‐holder/ spring combination for the better performance under high‐low atmospheric temperature.
