F!T is a new CRT technology. It uses active beam positioning by means of a feed‐back loop to achieve color purity, thus eliminating the need for a shadow mask. This paper describes the development of the F!T technology for large size tubes. Starting point in the development has been to remain compatibility of the F!T technology with conventional CRT manufacturing processes. In this way the current CRT manufacturing infrastructure can be employed to introduce F!T in the market. A 32″16:9 prototype has been realized.
