A novel bilayer cathode has been developed to variety of RGB emitting polymers to form an effective electron injector. An effective electron injection from high work function metal such as Al can be realized by incorporation of a thin layer of water‐ or alcohol‐soluble copolymer between metal and emitting layer. The device performance of polymer LEDs fabricated with such bilayer cathodes can be enhanced to levels comparable to or even higher than that obtained by using Ca and Ba cathode.
