A new front‐projection screen made with cholesteric‐liquid‐crystal films has been developed. The films selectively reflect light with a particular polarization and wavelength, and the light diffusion properties are controlled. Consequently, the screen displays a bright, high‐contrast image, even in a bright room. It has almost ten times the contrast ratio of a conventional front‐projection screen in a bright room with polarized ambient light.
