A novel continuous domain in‐plane switching (CD IPS) LCD has been proposed. We proposed a new IPS LCD with S‐shape‐RGB sub‐pixels, S‐shape Data Lines, and S‐Shape Electrodes. This sub‐pixel structure enhanced the color performance and reduced color error. Theoretical calculation has been applied to optimize the optical performance of our new structure. This new IPS LCD exhibits wide‐viewing angle, low color dispersion characteristics as well as the conventional dual domain IPS structures.
