We have developed a prototype for a super‐high‐definition digital cinema projection system that uses three 3840 × 2048 pixel D‐ILA devices for the primary colors (each one an R/G/B 10‐bit). We consider this to be the highest grade system matching or exceeding the capabilities of existing 35mm films in the standardization of digital cinema. The system opens the door to the next generation of the most high‐quality 4k digital cinema.
